Founded by Lead Pastor Rich McCullen, Missiongathering has recently acquired a new-to-them facility in the heart of North Park – an eclectic, arts district home to a plethora of funky restaurants, seedy bars, tattoo shops, and laundromats. It will make the inner-artist within you smile.
Missiongathering Church started with several young adults from the San Diego area who were disenchanted with the institutional church. From our initial beginnings, our group of friends and spiritual seekers began to use words like open, organic, emergent, fluid, and ever-evolving to describe our community. Our gathering of restless spiritual wanderers became a safe haven for Christian spirituality as opposed to religious institutionalism and created a new expression of God’s grace and Christianity in a post-Christian era.
Missiongathering is part of a denomination called The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Disciples’ have a rich and diverse history driven not by dogma and creed, but by a welcoming Christ and a foundation built on the Bible, baptism, communion, and freedom of belief.
